I am not sure what kind of insect this is. It was a very friendly and affectionate insect licking my hand for around 10 minutes. My sister Carrie was able to take many, many shots trying to get one clear enough and large enough to use for identification. During his photo shoot we had children bumping me, people coming to see and my own shifting around and he did not get scared away. He would fly up and then right back down to my hand. It was very neat. When I am not soooo tired I will try to identify him.

I think I might know! I came across something that looked very similar today in my insect field guide (we were looking at horseflies). This looks like a Syrphid Fly. Google it and see what you think!
